As Summer begins to wind down and the school year  quickly approaches, we are turning up the heat and hosting the BIGGEST party of the summer… and you just got invited.

Will it be fun? Absolutely! We have something for everyone. Crazy battles on the dodgeball field for you insane people that like to hurl playground balls at each other. Volleyball for those of you who “dig” that stuff. Knockout… it’s a basketball thing. BUT WAIT… that’s not for you? We have some of the most obscure and awesome card games and board games. Get to know knew friends or hang out with your crew inside in the A/C playing some intense games! Speaking of games… is that the “Battle Bus” I hear? Yep a video game area. Solo or Group… bring your A-Game

The lip sync battle is going to be the FINAL event of the night. It will be the one EVERYONE is waiting for. Throughout the entire evening, our panel of judges will be auditioning every act. Prior to the conclusion of the night, the top FOUR acts will be announced and they will compete for The Golden Pineapple. Each act will have the opportunity to perform for 2 minutes. Songs must be approved by the judges prior to the night of the event. This means if you have a 6 minute song that you just LOVE… choose your favorite 2 minute segment to “sing.” Costumes and crazy attitudes are expected…Now, register.

Feed The Wave – Help Us Provide Game Day Meals for the Ashbrook Football Team

Thank you for taking time to consider partnering with the Ashbrook High School Football team during their 2018 Season. Please take a look below at what is involved in hosting a game day dinner. As a fellow minister to students and this year’s chaplain of the Greenwave football team, I want to thank you for your consideration and to encourage you to be a part. Not only will you have the opportunity to minister to these students by preparing a meal for them, you will be given a moment (8-12minutes) on that afternoon to share from God’s Word. Imagine the impact this ministry could have!

What Is Required of You:
Two Meals: You will be feeding two teams. The JV on Thursday and the Varsity on Friday. Meal time will be from 4:00-5:00pm generally
Volunteers: You will need about 4 volunteers to help prepare the meal on game day. It is relatively simple but it takes a small crew to do it.
Space: You will be hosting 45-50 people on game day for a meal. If your church does not seat that many but you would still like to host, you can lead the meal at Bethlehem Church’s Student Facility!
Message: You will be given the opportunity to share with these students a short devotional, a testimony, or an encouragement. We are asking that this be short (approx. 10m) and that it be rooted in Scripture. This is YOUR week to speak into the lives of almost 100 young men. Pray now!

What Is Provided to you:
Food: Food will be purchased by the Booster Club for this meal. It will be delivered to you prior to game day with the exception of the drinks ON game day.
The Team: The Team will come to you. They will arrive around 4pm most weeks. They will be ready to eat upon arrival. They will be with you 45-50minutes

Atmosphere:
Focus: It is game day. You don’t need to plan on music or lighting or anything entertaining. They will be focused and quiet. The setting should be as well. It is a pretty cool thing to be a part of.

Cost to feed The GreenWave:

$3.00 per player
Varsity – 50 (Players + Coaches) $150
JV – 40 (Players + Coaches) $120
Total Funds request to Purchase Food: $270
* We are asking churches to cover the cost of the meals as much as possible. All checks should be made out to  “Ashbrook Booster Club.” However, Inability to cover some or entire cost should NOT deter a church from saying yes!

8th Grade Guys MoveUP!!

ATTENTION 8TH GRADE GUYS!!

You made it!  You’re at the end of your eight grade year and about to make the jump into High School!  Before we get there, we want to give you one final ‘hurrah’ and have a night we all come hang out at the student center to celebrate this HUGE moment in your life!  Here’s the info you’ll need to know:

When:

Friday, May 11 at 6:00 pm (Drop-Off)

Saturday, May 12 at 9:00 am (Pick Up)

Where:

Student Center @ Bethlehem Church South Campus

What to Bring:

Change of Clothes

Sleeping Bag/Pillow and Blankets

Toiletries (suggested not required)

Game System and/or TV (if you have one – they will be secured when not in use)

Cost:

NONE!  This is totally FREE!

EVENT SCHEDULE:

6:00pm: Arrive and set up game systems

6:30pm: Learn to Grill (Cook Steaks)

8:00pm: Bonfire w/S’mores

9:30pm: Come inside for FORTNITE (and whichever other games you wish to bring – please no ‘M’ rated games)

Host Home Registration - 180 Weekend 2018

This form is to be filled out completely by all new and returning host homes.

We had homes all over Gaston County and even in Clover last year. Knowing this up front helps us map out our possibilities.

Knowing about pets doesn't exclude anyone from being a host home. Every once in a while, we encounter students that have a fear or allergy. It helps us to make sure everyone is placed correctly.

We try our best to connect you with students that you request. If you are a parent requesting to host your child's group... no problem. That rocks.

We will try to place 2 leaders per group. Please consider the number of students plus 2 leaders when entering your "Max Capacity." Make note that students do not require a bed or even a couch. Floorspace counts. Also, take transportation into consideration.

Please make any notes here that you would like us to be aware of when preparing groups. This is your space to communicate to us.

We ask host homes to think creatively. Many host homes have partnered with other adults in LifeGroup or neighbors to help during the weekend. It can be fun to involve other people!

Leading the 3 small group studies is not a requirement to host. It is incredibly rewarding for those who do. If you are not sure right now, please check the best available selection and keep in touch with us!

Student Ministry Volunteer Training

Starting this year, we are planning on having 3 volunteer trainings throughout the year. For these trainings, we will be inviting ALL volunteers in our student ministry to participate. (We also will provide dinner. Our first one is in October!

We Need Your Couch! – The Revitalization of the BC Student Center and Why

Thanks for stopping by. After writing the title, I wasn’t sure you would come but you did. This post is both a request and an information piece about what God is doing in the lives of our students. You are a big part of that and that is why I believe that God brought you here… to this blog post. So, please take a moment to read what is happening, why we are doing it, and how you might be used to change the life of a teenager with a couch (or a loveseat, a rug, a table… etc)

“A well designed youth space is an integral part of a well run student ministry” I read this not long ago when researching how we could better serve our students. I couldn’t agree with this statement more. The whole article “How To Design A Youth Room”encouraged us to move forward with some of our revitalization efforts. It is definitely worth the read (Click Here To Read) Overall, what we read caused us to see that much of where our students sit and the place that they worship was an afterthought. Students pick up on this quickly and soon believe that they too are an afterthought to their church. We knew things needed to change.

Comfortable spaces make it easier to pay attention! This year, we intentionally made the move to change our Student LifeGroups away Sunday morning. Our High School LifeGroup meets at the Student Center on Sunday nights from 6-8pm and our Middle School on Wednesday nights from 6-8pm. We’ve done this to allow students time together when they are most likely to engage in discussion… and we are seeing awesome connection! However our LifeGroup spaces are anything but awesome and we want to change that starting now. Our goal is to create 6 incredible “living rooms” along the sides of our student center where our life groups can meet. We’ve begun the process with one set of our couches and the response has been nothing short of amazing.


Here is our need:

  • Couches* – 10 three to four seat couches
  • Love Seats* – 10 two seat love seats
  • End Tables – 6 or 7 end tables to hold lamps, Bibles, pens, etc
  • Coffee/Center Tables – 6 or 7 tables for center of “Living Rooms”
  • Area Rugs – 5 Area rugs from 6′-8′ in length
  • Wall Picture Frames – Looking for ALL sizes of picture frames

*Couch/Love Seat Donation Guidelines

  1. We are looking for good quality furniture. Not necessarily fancy but in good condition.
  2. Furniture should have little or no pet hair on it at all. Ideally none because of allergies
  3. Absolutely no urine smell to it (have an honest friend do a sniff test for you)
  4. We can come pick up if needed!

Did You Know?

Currently, BC Students ministers to an average of 250 students per month! This year alone, we have seen 1000 unique students come through the door of the student center for one of our 4 services each week. On top of that, thanks to FCA we have served dinner to 7 area high school football teams, hosted YoungLife All Area Club, enjoyed an incredible KJ-52 concert and of course… 180 Weekend.


But You Said Revitalization… it can’t be just about couches, can it?

Entrance – Currently, we are in the process of installing 9 led lights overhead when you walk into the student center so that the first steps into our building are bright and inviting.

Kitchen – If you haven’t been to the student center in a while, you might be shocked by this one. With the number of students we feed a week, our oven and fridge just weren’t cutting it. Through some generous giving of finances and HUNDREDS of donated hours, our kitchen has been completely revamped with a double oven, a massive stovetop with 6 burners, a large griddle, dishwasher, deep sink and more! WOW!

Chairs – This year we brought in new, lighter and very durable chairs for our seating in the student center. These have allowed for our seating to be very portable and for clean-up to be made real easy. It has also eliminated the problems of stains on our super awesome chairs.

Floors – Starting with the kitchen floors, we will be revitalizing the floors of the student center. Hundreds of kids making traffic through the student center takes its toll over the years. We’ll remedy that soon!

Outdoors – One of our own students is currently pursuing his Eagle Scout badge. For his final project, he will be building an outdoor chapel setting by the lake. We will also be doing various landscaping projects by the summer of 2018!

 

 

 

Student Ministry Welcome Tent Volunteers Needed

We need at least FOUR Parent Volunteers!
Would you consider serving on the BC Students Ministry team at Bethlehem Church? We need a couple volunteers at 9:00am and two at 10:30am. Your job? Hang out at the student ministry tent just outside of the Worship Center on Sunday mornings. Give out donuts to EVERYONE (Man people love those donuts,) help students find the Student Center, give out calendars, parent cues, etc. to parents… that’s it. This is a TOP priority for our team and we would LOVE to have you guys there! Interested? Fill out the form below!
